To visit Rio Blanco Rainforest is to truly experience the Dominican wilderness and a countryside community interacting to achieve a harmonious balance. Located in the foothills of the Caribbean’s tallest mountain range, Rio Blanco is also one of the poorest rural communities in the DR. However, here we can witness first hand a community working together to preserve, and sustainably coexist, with the rainforest. Our tour takes you to an organic cacao plantation started by several international organizations, where the purpose is to show the locals how they can both benefit from and preserve nature around them.

Our visit would not be complete without a hike through the very heart of the rainforest, through which we can see and enjoy first hand the beautiful vegetation, many rivers and amazing waterfalls which characterize the region.
