Our Rio Blanco rain forest and organic coffee plantation tour from Santo Domingo is a coffee, nature, and sustainability lover’s dream. The spectacular natural beauty of this little known mountainous region of the country is spectacular. Filled with 500-year-old trees, countless streams and rivers, breathtaking panoramic mountain views, and a stunning array of plant and animal life, the area truly is a hidden gem.

Located in the foothills of the Caribbean’s tallest mountain range, Rio Blanco is also one of the poorest rural communities in the DR. However, here we can see first hand a community working together to preserve, and sustainably coexist, with the rain forest. Our tour takes you to an organic coffee plantation started by several international organizations, where the purpose was to show the locals how they can both benefit from and preserve the ecology around them.

Our visit includes a hike through the very heart of the forest, where we can see and enjoy first hand the beautiful vegetation, and swim in a pristine river, and see one of the tallest waterfalls in the Caribbean, Salto del Rodeo. Truly a very special and unforgettable place for any nature lover looking to get very much off the beaten path.
