One of our customer favorites, this tour takes you to some of our favorite off the beaten path places and allows you to experience first hand the amazing natural beauty and diversity found all over the Dominican Republic and spend a peaceful night in the beautiful coastal town of Punta Rucia.
Day 1 takes us to explore the natural wonders of the pristine Jima river. The Jima Waterfalls are located in the outskirts of the city of Bonao, about an hour from the city of Santo Domingo, and right at the foot of the Caribbean’s tallest mountain range. We embark on a soft hike through a nature trail that takes us through the heart of the rain forest, along the trail lie many natural pools, all perfect for taking a relaxing swim before reaching our final destination, a magnificent 50 foot tall waterfall.
We continue on our way and head north for the small fishing village of Punta Rucia, one of our favorite communities and best kept secrets in all the Caribbean. This spectacular region is one of the most pristine and undeveloped parts of the Dominican Republic. Some of our best preserved reefs, and one the largest mangrove forests in the Antilles can be found in the outskirts of this small town. Here we spend a relaxing night far away from civilization.
The next day we take a 20 minute boat ride from coast, and we take you to the tiny island of “Cayo Arena” where you can spend a few hours enjoying the spectacular beach there and snorkeling through a wide array spectacular coral reef. This is a place that can be truly be described as paradise. After spending a good part of the day here, we enjoy a delicious typical Dominican lunch in the village before heading back to Santo Domingo. This will undoubtedly be 2 days of biodiversity and natural beauty you will never forget.
