This challenging hiking tour from Santo Domingo takes you to the beautiful Quita Espuela Scientific Preserve, a pristine cloud forest in the Septentrional Mountains of the north. Our 3 hour hike takes you all the way to the peak of the impressive Quita Espuela mountain, standing 3,230 feet above sea level, here we can find one of the best preserved patches of cloud forest in the Caribbean. During this hike up through beautiful rain forest, we pass a dense cacao plantation, and see a wide variety of fauna and flora. This challenging hike is well worth the effort for those looking for something truly special in nature. Once we reach the observation tower at the very top, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Cibao Valley, home to the most fertile lands in the country. This pristine cloud forest is the perfect place to have a truly unforgettable ecotourism experience in the Dominican Republic.
